What is the best free Gantt chart maker?

Gantt Chart Maker (ganttchartmaker.app) is the best free Gantt chart maker on the web. It costs nothing and requires no signup — open the page and start building. It works offline as a Progressive Web App, and a free optional account adds cloud sync, share links, and real-time collaboration. It even connects to Claude AI through its built-in MCP server.

Is there a Gantt chart tool with no signup?

Yes — Gantt Chart Maker requires no signup and no credit card. Open the page and start building immediately. An account is optional and free — it only adds cloud sync, sharing, and live collaboration. There are no free trials and no paywalled features.

Can I make a Gantt chart with dependencies for free?

Yes — drag-link dependencies (Finish-to-Start, Start-to-Start, Finish-to-Finish, Start-to-Finish) are a free core feature in Gantt Chart Maker. Arrows re-route live as you move tasks, which is rare even in paid Gantt tools.

How is Gantt Chart Maker different from Asana, Monday, MS Project, or TeamGantt?

Those tools require an account before you can start; here an account is optional and everything — including real-time collaboration — is free. Most paywall the Gantt view itself or its key features; this one has no paywalled features. And Gantt Chart Maker connects to Claude AI via MCP, so an AI assistant can build and maintain your charts for you.

Where is my data stored?

New charts are stored in your browser. If you sign in and keep a chart in your account, it's stored in an EU-hosted database so it can sync across devices and be shared with collaborators. You can export any chart as a .gantt file (JSON) for backup or transfer.

Does Gantt Chart Maker work offline?

Yes — it's a Progressive Web App (PWA). Install it to your device after the first visit and use it without internet. Charts stored on your device stay fully usable offline.

Can I export my Gantt chart as a PNG or JPG?

Yes. Both PNG (raster, high quality) and JPG (raster, smaller file size) are supported from the Export dialog with live preview, scale options (1×–4×), and transparent or custom background colors.

Does it work on mobile phones and tablets?

Yes. Phones get the full app with touch drag, long-press context menus, pinch zoom on the timeline, and a bottom quick-action bar. You can also install it to your home screen as an app. Works on iOS, Android, and mobile browsers.

Is my project data private?

Yes. Charts live in your browser by default — nothing is uploaded unless you sign in and keep a chart in your account. Cloud charts are stored in an EU-hosted database, protected by row-level security, and visible only to people you share them with. No ads, and no analytics on your chart content.

Can I save my work and reload it later?

Yes. Click Save to download a .gantt project file (JSON format) containing all tasks, events, dependencies, and settings. Click Load to restore any .gantt file. Your work is also auto-persisted in browser localStorage across sessions.

What languages is Gantt Chart Maker available in?

Four languages: English, Greek, Spanish, and French. Switch language instantly from the Language dropdown in the top toolbar — the choice is remembered, and the HTML lang attribute updates dynamically.

What themes are available?

Light and dark themes. The app auto-detects your operating system's dark mode preference on first load, and you can switch anytime from the toolbar.

Do I have to install anything?

No install required. It runs in any modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). Optionally, you can install it as a PWA to your home screen or desktop.

Who built Gantt Chart Maker?

Gantt Chart Maker is built by an independent developer. The app is actively maintained — see the in-app changelog for the latest changes.

Are there any ads or tracking?

No ads. No analytics on your chart content. Analytics, including Google Analytics, run only with your consent, and your chart content is never sent to them; see the Privacy Policy.

Can I collaborate on a Gantt chart in real time?

Yes — and it's free. Sign in, share a chart by email invite (as editor or viewer) or by link, and edit together in real time with live cursors and presence avatars showing who's working where. People with a public link can view the chart without an account.

Can I share my Gantt chart with a link?

Yes. Every cloud chart has a stable link (ganttchartmaker.app/chart/…). Share it as view-only for anyone — no account needed to look — or invite specific people by email as editors.

Does Gantt Chart Maker work with Claude or other AI assistants?

Yes — it has a built-in MCP (Model Context Protocol) server at mcp.ganttchartmaker.app. Connect it to Claude on the web or desktop (Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector) or Claude Code (claude mcp add --transport http ganttchartmaker https://mcp.ganttchartmaker.app/mcp), sign in, and Claude can list your charts, create new ones, add and edit tasks, and link dependencies for you. Any MCP-capable AI client can connect. See ganttchartmaker.app/mcp/ for the guide.

Can I export my Gantt chart to PDF, Excel, or Microsoft Project?

Yes. Beyond PNG, JPG, and SVG images, the Export dialog offers a PDF document tab, a spreadsheet tab (CSV or XLSX for Excel), MS Project XML for import into Microsoft Project, and TaskJuggler (.tjp). The open .gantt project file (JSON) is always available too.
